Northern Gannets nesting on and flying around Ailsa Craig, Ayrshire, Scotland, UK

Northern Gannets nesting on and flying around Ailsa Craig an extruded island, nine miles off the Ayrshire mainland in south-west Scotland is famous for its granite, which is very much in demand for curling stones. It is also, since a successful rat eradication programme in the 1990s, a popular sea-bird colony, particularly for Northern Gannets.
