Raman scattering analysis. Researcher using a laser spectrometer to carry out a Raman scattering characterization analysis on photovoltaic (solar panel) materials. The Raman effect, discovered in 1928, concerns the scattering of light by molecules. The resulting Raman spectroscopy is a powerful method of analysing molecular structure. Photographed at a National Renewable Energy Laboratory (NREL) facility at the Colorado School of Mines, Golden, Colorado, USA.
