Greenwood Chair Making drilling the back legs on the bending jig


Green woodworker Mike Abbott making a Ladderback chair using traditional woodworking tools. Its made from wood like Ash which is relatively straight and knot-free, having cut a logs to length with a cleaving axe which is used to split them spart along the grain, then trimming with a hand axe. Using a shaving horse the split logs are shaved using a drawknife and turning the seat rails on pole-lathe. The seat made from tree bark.
