Riasg Buidhe stone, an ancient Celtic Cross, Colonsay House Gardens, Isle of Colonsay, Scotland, UK.
Riasg Buidhe stone, an ancient Celtic Cross, Colonsay House Gardens, Isle of Colonsay, Scotland, UK. Originally standing in the ruined settlement of Riasg Buidhe, this stone cross is now located in the gardens of Colonsay House by Obar Toran (St. Oran's well). This cross is unusual in that one side (see Alamy image H3H3P5) shows a carving of a figure (possibly religious) with Celtic decoration. Whereas the other side (shown in this image) is carved in the form of a phallic /fertility symbol. The cross is believed to date from the 7th or 8th Century AD.
