Large shell wound trav-ersing the anterior aspect of the thigh and almost completely divid-ing the quadriceps femoris. Three and a half hours afterthe re-ceipt of the injury the wound was laid open and foreign bodiesand torn muscular tissue removed. An extensive wound resultedmore than 10 centimeters long and extending from one side ofthe thigh to the other.
