As to prices, it is felt that almost any price might be obtained for good carna- tions, which will be first choice, but that 12 cents to 15 cents is as far as it is best to go, except for specialties. But if carnations are short of the supply at those prices, good short-stemmed roses should be worth as much. And fine, big, showy peonies should be worth as much as carnations or short roses. So you pay your money and take your choice, with the probability that there will be a better chance of getting the or- der filled in full if it is heaviest on peonies. There are likely to be enough long roses, at from 25 cents up, but another good way will bo to push the sale of baskets and boxes of miscellaneous flow- ers. There will be large supplies of sweet peas, valley, daisies, Darwin tulips, snapdragons, lilies, lupines, even jonquils, and the prices will not be so stiff as on the three leaders. This week there are indications that reluctant spring has arrived at last. With the warmer weather locally, there are increased shipments from the south.
