ŚWIĘTOSZÓW, Poland (Feb. 6, 2019) - Vincent “” Lawrence, the Commander-in-Chief of the Veterans of Foreign Wars of the , gives a challenge coin to Sgt. Michael Messersmith, an M1 Abrams Tank Gunner with the 1st Squadron, 4th Cavalry Regiment out of Fort Riley, Kan., in appreciation for his work and service in the unit. As commander of the VFW, Lawrence personally visited the soldiers of the 1-4 Cavalry while mobilized in an effort to better understand the training environment and living conditions of the troops stationed overseas in support of Operation Atlantic Resolve.
