In pruning the third fall select the strongest cane near the extremity of the vine that was tied in the spring to the lower wire, and cut it off at a length to reach the next vine on the trellis. This cane must be tied to the lower wire the next spring and will complete the permanent vine. In pruning do not cut within an inch of the bud. Bury as directed and subsequent treatment will be same as previously described. The fourth fall the vine will consist of a main arm extending along the lower wire to the next vine with spurs of two buds each ten inches BLACK GRAPES. Moore's Early,—Black with heavy blue bloom.
