Tail long; suhcaudals in two rows. America, from Texas to Peru and Southern Brazil. This genus is very closely allied to, and intermediate between, both Zamems and Coluher. It is just separable from the former by the greater number of teeth ; and it is connected with the latter by D. hifossatus and D. boddaerfii, the dentition of some specimens of which approaches the isodont type.
