Robben Island Prison Museum Gateway, Cape Town, South Africa

On landing at the Murray Bay Harbourside, visitors to Robben island walk to the buses beyond the gate for a 45 minute guided tour of the island, prior to a walk around the maximum security prison with the interaction of an ex-prisoner. The gateway to the Robben Island Prison Museum was built by political prisoners using stone from the island's Malmesbury Slate Quarry. The lily on the right is the emblem of Robben Island. The badge on the left is that of the South African Museum Service.
