Great Opencast copper mine on Parys Mountain, Anglesey: supplied most of the world's copper for a few years after 1768. Windmill water pump of 1878.

The Great Opencast copper mine on Parys Mountain: 1878 windmill on summit used to pump water from the underground workings. For a short time after 1768 the Parys workings were the most productive in the world with its copper being exported via Amlwch Port. Reds, yellows & purples in the spoil come from high levels of iron leached from oxidising sulphide minerals.
