Portugal, Lisbon Region, Sintra, Pena National Palace

The palace, which was built from 1842 to 1854 by the King Consort Ferdinand II, Queen Maria II and the Baron Von Eschwege, was inspired by European Romanticism and features a mixture of building styles that range from Moorish to pseudo-medieval. It is a fine example of 19th century Portuguese Romanticism.
