Hagia Sofia (also called Haghia Sofia or Aya Sofya) is a world-famous monument, originally a Byzantine christian orthodox basilica, later a mosque after the Ottoman Turks conquered Constantinople, and today a museum. Considered the epitome of Byzantine architecture, it was the World's largest cathedral for nearly 1000 years, until Seville cathedral was completed in 1520.
