B, New York Cavalry, aged twenty-two years, was wounded at the battle of the Wilderness, May 5, 1864, bya conoidal musket ball, which produced a comminuted fracture of thelower third of the left femur. He remained for two days in a field hos-pital, and was then transferred to Fredericksburg in an ambulance. Hewas treated at Fredericksburg with a starch bandage and moderateextension. On May 25th he was transferred to Armory Square Hospital,at Washington, where the fractured limb was supported by SmithsAnterior Splint.
