George H. Lyon, 2nd Lt. of the 69th Infantry, also known as Col. Bill Hayward's Old Fifteenth, arrives home on the SS Stockholm at Pier 55, North River, New York City. The regiment, which was largely recruited from San Juan Hill, New York City, was greeted by large delegations of African Americans and decorated with the Croix de Guerre. Col.
