The Hybrolight in Old Woking uses a combination of solar photovoltaic panels and a vertical wind turbine to power a street light


In March 2005, Woking Borough Council was one of seven local authorities awarded Beacon Council Status for Sustainable Energy. The Beacon Council Scheme exists to share good practice so that the best value authorities can leran from each other and deliver high quality services to all. The Council works with its partner, the Energy Centre for Sustainable Communities (ecsc) to host a series of events and prvide mentoring to other local authorities who are keen to learn from Working's experiences.
