Old Castellated Folly, in Baile Mhic Airt lower, Ring, Gaeltacht (Gaelic Speaking Area), County Waterford, Ireland

Gothic mock castle built as a gatehouse around 1819 at Baile Mhic Airt Lower in An Rinn, was one element of the plans to develop Glenanna Cottage by Sir Henry Winston Barron, High Sheriff of County Waterford and Member of Parliament for Waterford at Westminster between 1832 and 1870. The plans for An Rinn were abandoned and the romantic, moody and abandoned folly surrounded by wintry trees is now a farm building sharing a field with a Mass rock used in mid-17th century when Catholic Mass was deemed illegal in Ireland.
