Liposuction. Image 1 of 11. Patient's buttocks and thighs during a liposuction operation to remove fat from the tops of her thighs. Markings drawn on the skin act as guidelines for the cosmetic surgeon. A small incision is made (one seen at centre left), near the area to be treated, into which a tube called a cannula is inserted.
