The place will be managed by Otto Thomas. John Cook has returned from his winter sojourn in Florida. He was ac- companied on his trip by Mrs. Cook and his daughter, Miss Belle Cook, and reports having spent an enjoyable sea- son. James Glass has installed a 1-ton auto truck for hauling plants and cut flowers to market, in place of the horse and wagon which were formerly used. Krouse Bros, have opened a new store at Charles and Twentieth streets. Boman J. Irwin, of New York city, was a visitor last week. The mild weather of the last week has opened up quantities of outdoor jonquils. Chas. Hochstedt, of Lauraville, has a new Ford delivery truck with a panel body, which makes an attractive ap- pearance. "With the coming of spring and the weather getting mild, building opera- tions near the city have taken on a business-like aspect. Among the firms at present building or assembling mate- rial for it, are Lehr Bros., of Brooklyn, who have started work on a 50x300- foot house of iron frame construction for roses; Lohr & Fritze, of Athol Heights, who are getting ready to add a 50-foot extension to each of their four 150-foot houses for roses; J.
