Poland, Wieliczka: the Wieliczka Salt Mine (Kopalnia soli Wieliczka), in operation since the 13th century, is a Polish Historic Monument (Pomnik Historii) and a UNESCO World Heritage Site. The salt mine reaches a depth of 327 meters and is over 287 kilometers long, on 9 levels. The section accessible to tourists comprises only a km segment at depths ranging from 64 to 135 metres. Hall excavated in 1783, bust of King Casimir III the Great carved by Wladyslaw Hapek.
