Cpl. K. Polk captured this photograph on March 12, 1919. The image depicts a bridge under construction across the Aire River, supervised by a private from the 302nd Engineers, Co. D of the 77th Division. The bridge, which spans 212 ft. in length and 10 ft. in width, was built within 10 hours and can support a weight of 10 tons. Unfortunately, the construction took place under enemy shellfire, resulting in several casualties. This picture was taken in St. Juvin, Ardennes, France.
