One wished she could unhookher members and hang them up outside,though such an arrangement would verylikely have resulted in her complete over-throw, as Number Two undoubtedly wouldhave run away with them, and thus havehad Number One in her power. As it was. Number One managed tostruggle free with all her parts upon her,and this done she stood on the cell andlooked around. Well for her she did not, for while shewas still investigating, along came NumberOne with a second spider, and away ranNumber Two. The spider was crowded into the nestwith the same trouble as to superfluouslegs and wings on the part of captor andprey as before, then Number One, suspect-ing Number Two, made chase for was a skirmish, in which the twograppled and rolled head over heels, Num- THE MASONS 215 ber Two finally dropping to the ground,and Number One going for more spiders.
