A souvenir log front image of the 1952 built SS United States ocean liner. The ship was built for United States Lines as an ocean liner and potential troop ship by the Newport News Shipbuilding and Drydock Company. The ship primarily served the transatlantic route between New York City and Europe. Despite its initial success, the rise of air travel led to a decline in demand for transatlantic ocean liners, and the SS United States was eventually retired from service in 1969
