Smoky jungle frog (Leptodactylus pentadactylus). Many species of animals, unique in the world, are in danger of extinction in the Amazon jungle. More than 10,000 species are at imminent risk of extinction. There are some animals that exist only in this territory, such as the sloth bear, golden lion tamarin, spider frog, electric eel, bullet ant, poison dart frog, green anaconda, black alligator, glass frog or the Jesus Christ lizard. Some of the animals that are at severe risk of extinction are the pink dolphin, the jaguar, the giant otter or the Caribbean manatee. The impact of human beings on nature is being devastating. In addition to climate change, industrial logging, which is largely illegal, paves the way for further destruction through the use of fire. Another great threat to the ecosystem are the hydroelectric projects that disturb all the rivers of the Amazon basin.
