Dinner time, Peach-fronted parakeets lined up at a feeder, Buraco das Araras, Mato Grosso, Brazil


A large red sinkhole called Buraco das Araras, near Jardim, Mato Grosso, Brazil is the home for several pairs of Red-and-green macaws (Ara chloropterus), also called the green-winged macaw, and is also home to some pairs of Buff-necked ibis (Theristicus caudatus) and several other bird species. The green-winged macaws mate for life and they can be seen around the sinkhole flying in pairs, perched in trees, or indulging in mutual grooming. A number of Peach-fronted parakeets live in an around the sink hole.
