It is composed of closely-set cells ofa conical, pyramidal, or cyhndrical form, whose apices areattached to the mucous membrane, or to flat epithelial cellslying upon it, and whose bases, which are usually terminatedby a truncated plane, are free. Each such cell encloses, atnearly mid-distance between its base and apex, a flat nucleus with nucleoli (fig. 35). Fig. 35.*.
