Kaga, aged 24, a man to No. 1Q. of the Akagi. In the battle of the Yellow sea on September 17th, 1894, hewas firing the No. 1 Q. on the starboard side of the bridge, when a 15 cm. ?shell came from the stern and passed away about a foot in front of his eyes, and burstagainst the support of the gun. Some fragments of the shell hitting him, he re-ceived abrasions over the outer part of the left clavicle, and on the lower limbs, and alacerated wound on the left knee ; at the same time, both eyes lost their sight. Onexamination there was found congestion of the conjunctiva? of both eyes attended withpain. This was especially the case with the right eye, but no injury to the lids andballs could be discovered.
