Sheffield Silver Industry - marker plate of J Dixon & Sons. One of their earliest trademarks was a trumpet with a banner hanging from it. They were founded in 1806 in Sheffield and became one of the major British manufacturers in the Industrial Revolution of the 19th century. They were also well known as manufacturers of Pewter ware.
