Thessaloniki, Greece. 16th July 2013. Anti-austerity rally during a 24-hour general strike, in Thessaloniki. Unions opposing austerity measures in Greece staged their fourth general strike this year, as the government prepared to start axing public sector jobs. The measures are part of a broad plan to slash the size of Greece's bloated public sector, which counts some 670,000 employees. The government has committed to firing 15,000 people by the end of 2014 and transferring another 12,500 to new positions this year. Credit: Konstantinos Tsakalidis/Alamy Live News
