In diphtheria there is exudation of a false membrane on to themucous membrane of the upper part of the Inrynx, pharynx, palatalarches, tonsils, and especially on the posterior surface of the soft palateor uvula. The last named is one of the best positions in which toexamine the changes induced. The appearances vary according to thedate of the disease at which the patient succumbs.
