London, UK. 7th September, 2016. Paula Peters and other DPAC campaigners in the roadblock on Westminster Bridge in front of the huge banner reading 'No More Benefit Deaths #DPAC'. Police asked them politely to leave, then began to threaten protesters and journalists with arrest if they remained on the highway. Many of DPAC's disabled protesters refused to move and a few reamined blocking the roadway almost two hours after the protest began. On the day of the opening ceremony for the Paralympics in Rio they called for the new Prime Minister to make public the findings of the UN investigation of UK violations of Deaf and Disabled people’s rights, to scrap the Work Capability Assessment and to end cuts and sanctions which are killing the disabled.
