Image taken on the morning of the day of the official 'Welcome' to the Queen on 8th. August 2011. Each year, in August, the Queen begins her annual holiday at Balmoral Castle with a ceremony in which she is officially welcomed to the estate. This ceremony involves a review by the Queen of soldiers of the armed forces who parade with a band outside the main gates of the estate. The troops remain in barracks at Ballater for the duration of the Queen's stay at Balmoral.
