Chalk military madges, Fovant Down, Wiltshire, 2016. Badges of the Post Office Rifles, the Devonshire Regiment and the centenary poppy badge under construction. British Army units waiting to be shipped to the Western Front during the First World War carved their regimental badges into the chalk hillsides of Wiltshire while garrisoned nearby.
