Single seedhead common weed Herb Bennet whose hook tipped burrs like Burdock inspired the invention of Velcro


The fruits of Herb Bennet have burrs which are used for dispersal by getting caught in the fur of foxes, rabbits and other animals, creates knotted fur in long haired pets. It is found round the edges and in clearings of woodland, hedges and waste land, and by footpaths, canals and rivers. The plant was used in herbal medicine hence herba benedicta.
