Kenneth Alwyne Pounds (born 1934), British astrophysicist. Pounds is Emeritus Professor of Space Physics at the University of Leicester. In the background are parts of two space-borne X-ray sensors Pounds has worked on: the Wide Field Camera (WFC) used on the ROSAT satellite (launched 1990); and mirrors for the ESA's XMM-Newton X-ray Observatory (launched 2000). Pounds was Project Scientist for the WFC, which carried out the first extreme ultraviolet all-sky survey. Pounds was elected Fellow of the Royal Society (1981) and made CBE (1984).
