In the celebratedCongress of 1775, Benjamin Har-rison and Jolin Hancock wereboth candidates for the office ofspeaker. Mr Harrison was subseiiuentlychosen Governor of Virginia, andwas twice re-elected. His son,; William Henry, of course enjoyed in childhood all the advantages which wealth andintellectvial and cultivated society could give. Hav-ing received a thorough common-school education, heentered Hampden Sidney College, where he graduatedwith honor soon after the death of his father.
