An Austrian Hartschier Life Guard small-sword, circa 1560/70 Strong single-edged blade with double-edged point. Narrow fourfold fullers on both sides, the base with struck smith's mark. S-shaped, curved cross-guard with finger rests and pas d´ane on the obverse side, on the reverse side three bars with thumb ring. Leather-covered grip (replaced). Sturdy ball pommel. Length 130 cm. Swords of this type are generally ascribed to the Hartschier Life Guard of the Austrian imperial family.
