Joshua Tree National Park


Joshua Tree National Park is a very large national park located in south eastern California. The park is very large. More than 790,000 acres. An area about the size of the state of Rhode Island. The park straddles the Riverside County and San Bernardino county lines. The park has nine different camping areas, three of which have both bathrooms and water. Joshua Tree National Park is a popular destination for campers. Most guests visit during the fall and winter when temperatures are more favorable. During the summer, temperatures can reach into the triple digits. The park is composed of two distinct desert ecosystems, the Colorado Desert and the Mojave Desert. Each desert has its own unique geography, fauna and wildlife. Elevation is what mainly separates these desert habitats from each other. There is a lot to do in Joshua Tree National Park. Activities include: astronomy, bird watching, hiking, photography rocking climbing, camping and hiking. The desert can be merciless to visitors who don't come prepared. It's important to maintain good hydration at all times to prevent heat stroke. Its recommended that guests have at least half a gallon per person per day; even during the cooler months.
