Sweet Bough.—A fine apple for baking or toeat out of hand, but too perishable as a marketvariety. Baked whole and eaten with creamit is delicious. Large, pale yellow, tender andsweet. Flesh white and sour. Agood pie apple. Season August. NCS. Red Astrachan Yellow Transparent,—The most valuableearly apple ever introduced. Came from Rus-sia and succeeds in the coldest apple old trees often bear in the nurseryrow. Bears heavily yearly and is the earliestof all apples.
