A German broadsword, dated 1639 Double-edged ridged blade. The lower third on both sides with rich etched decoration and bears Latin inscriptions and the date "1639". Cut iron knuckle-bow with thumb ring and asymmetrical, ornamentally embossed double shell-guard. Grip wound with twisted brass wire (later?) and Turk's heads.
