Neolithic archaeological site of Catalhoyuk central Anatolia Turkey


Possibly the world's oldest city stands in spectacular isolation on the central Anatolian plateau. A burial mound dating back some 9,500 years, it is still being excavated by international teams. Finds include statues, wall paintings and pottery.
