Larry Adler (1914-2001), Musician, playing his harmonica, c1940s. Adler was self taught in the harmonica and began to play professionally at the age of 14. In 1949, during the McCarthy era Adler was forced to move to the UK after accusations of pro-communist sympathies. He was known for his original collaborations with musicians such as George Gershwin, Kate Bush, Sting and composer Vaughan Williams, but also his own virtuoso performances.
