Hewas given a separate command in the district ofWest Florida, and assisted Major-General Gor-don Granger at the final operations around Mo-bile. After muster-out from the volunteer service,he returned to the regular army as colonel, havingalready received the brevet of major-general forthe capture of Little Rock. He died at SanMateo, California, January 12, 1868. Major-General Eugene Asa Cash ( 1850) was born in Erie County, New York, in 176J. GEORGE CROOK Commander of the Army of West Vir-ginia in 1864.
