The hospital ship USNS Mercy (T-AH 19) arrives in Singapore to take on supplies and personnel before transiting to the Indian Ocean in support of Operation Unified Assistance on Jan. 29, 2005. The Mercy contains 12 fully equipped operating rooms and 1,000 hospital beds. Operation Unified Assistance is a multi-national humanitarian aid effort in the wake of the Dec. 26, 2004, Indian Ocean tsunami.
