Red deer stag (Cervus elaphus). Its antlers are in the early stages of growth. Red deer antlers start grwoing in the spring and are shed each year. This is one of the two species of deer indigenous to the United Kingdom. It survived the ice age and has survived the effects of being continually hunted. It is the largest mammal in Britain.
