The originalartist is Francis Place, who painted the portrait from life shortly afterWilliam Penns second marriage in 1696, at the age of fifty-two. Thecopy is made by Henry J. Wright, who certifies to its entire accuracyin every detail. Its companion picture is a copy by the same hand,from the original portrait of Mrs. Penn—Hannah Callowhill,—painted by Place at the same time. Of the Framers of tlie Constitut
