In all parts of the cityarose, as if by magic, triumphal arches and other tributes tothe cause which has made the day memorable in the historyof Australia. The crowded streets of Sydney proper hadmagnificent arches erected by citizens of native birth, or bythose other citizens, not less valued, who hail from lands out-side the seas encircling the Commonwealth, or by the fellow-Australians who are brought closer to us by the consummationof the longed-for federation.
