Our Lady of the Milk, attributed to Robert Campin (–1444) Flanders, beginning of the 15th century. 0il on wood. Casa-Museu Medeiros e Almeida.

This painting represents the exaltation of the Immaculate Virgin, following a prototype from Van Eyck's workshops, the Virgin crowned as the Queen of Heavens and surrounded by a closed garden "Hortus Conclusus", a symbol of virginity. It also depicts a vision of Saint John from the Apocalypse: "and a great sign appeared in heaven: a woman clothed with the sun, and the moon under her feet, and on her head a crown of twelve stars" (12:1) Inscription at the top: TOTA PULCRA ET AMICA MEA
