Bradford Town Hall with fountains

Birse Civils has commissioned the water features in what will soon be the biggest man-made city centre water feature in the UK. The fog machines, curtain jets and over 100 fountains make up the water features of the six-acre urban park in the centre of Bradford known as City Park. The project, which is expected to be completed in January 2012, is being funded by Bradford Council with support from Yorkshire Forward, the Homes and Communities Agency and the Regional Transport Board. The water feature is located in the centre of Bradford adjacent to the grade 1 listed City Hall. The main fountain situated in the centre of the pool can propel water over 100ft into the air. With underwater lighting, artistic lighting columns with lasers, four geysers, fog machines and play jets the mirror pool water feature can create variety of atmospheric effects. The park also has a mirror pool, measuring around 4,000 square metres. The mirror pool has the capacity to hold 600,000 litres of water, supplied in part by a borehole 240 metres deep. All the water can be drained into a massive underground storage tank so the pool disappears and the space can be used for special events.
