For nearly a year and a half the office of President was vacant. Its duties were lively by Vice President John II. Shilling, Ph. D. and Dean B. W. Ayres, Ph. D. On the fifth day of November, 1903, the Rev. Charles W. Winchester. D. of Buffalo, N. Y., was electedPresident. He assumed the responsibilities of the position on the 13th of January. 1904. and was dulyinaugurated on Bishop Taylors birthday, May 2, 1904. faculty I. REV. C. W. WIXCHESTEE, D. D. REV. C W. WINCHESTER, D. D. CHARLES WESLEY WINCHESTER, Presidentof Taylor University, was born in Westminster, preparation for college was made at Springfield of the same state. He then entered Gene-see College, now Syracuse University, from which he was graduated in 1867. Subsequent tohis graduation lie spent some time in teaching at Pairview Seminary, Pairview, N. where he actedas professor of (.reek and German. From here he removed to Cazenovia where he taught Greek andLatin in the Central New York Conference Seminary. In the mean time he had received license topreach, and in 1870 he joined the East Genesee Conference. From this time until the present he hasbeen a very active minister of the Gospel. He has been pastor of some of our largest churches, lb-served as Presiding Elder from 1891 to 1897. lie was secretary of his conference for eleven eonseeutiveyears, and was a member of the Ecumenical Methodist Conference at Washington
